Nemus wins international tender for the development of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in Malawi

In September 2012, the Lilongwe Water Board released an international tender, under the National Development Program for Water, for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of the Raw Water Conveyance System for Lilongwe River.

The main objectives of the tender, won by Nemus in December, are conducting a detailed assessment of the environmental and social impacts of the water supply system and associated infrastructure, to ensure compliance with the applicable national and international standards, and also to provide useful information to the Client on how the detailed project may be designed and planned to avoid or mitigate negative impacts and to boost the anticipated environmental and social benefits.

General tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following: review of previous studies; detailed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment; Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP); Public consultation; Resettlement Action Plan (RAP); and Conflict Management Plan.
