Nemus awarded in PT Global Water Awards 2017
On 7th November, Nemus was honored by the PT Global Water Awards with the “R + D + I” award (transnational initiatives for Research, Development and / or Innovation) for the development of an innovative project for Hydrogeological and Numerical Modeling of the Central Valley in Costa Rica, a work that Nemus carried out for the Directorate of Water Management and Investigation of SENARA, a public institute that characterizes, licenses and regulates the exploitation of Water Resources in Costa Rica.
The PT Global Water Awards are an initiative promoted and organized by the newspaper Água & Ambiente (Water & Environment) and the Parceria Portuguesa para a Água (Portuguese Water Partnership), which aim to reward the internationalization of the Portuguese water sector in five distinct categories:
- Services – provision of consultancy services, projects, technical assistance, operation and maintenance;
- Contracts – construction of infrastructures and installation of facilities;
- Supply – of goods and / or equipment;
- FDI – foreign direct investment;
- R + D + I – transnational initiatives for research, development and / or innovation.
The objective of the award-winning project was to define and simulate mathematically historical, current and future scenarios for exploration of water resources in the aquifer system of the Central Valley of Costa Rica. This work was extremely relevant for the team, since it allowed to consolidate and enhance their experience in 3D modeling of complex aquifers, as well as in development of scenarios and definition of water resources management policies.
This project also has a very high potential for replicability in the main markets in which Nemus operates, namely in Africa and South America.
