REDD+ International Workshop

Nemus was invited to participate in the workshop on integrated and jurisdictional management of landscapes organized by the REDD+ Technical Unit, in coordination with the World Bank, to be held on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of July 2015 at the Hotel Cardoso in Maputo. The event is part of the current implementation of the REDD + strategy in Mozambique, for which Nemus, in partnership with Mozambican company Beta, is responsible.

This workshop aims to identify opportunities and challenges faced in the design of programs in a concerted manner, to discuss operational aspects of the program’s implementation and to discuss the financing of the projects. This meeting brings together representatives of various public entities from Mozambique, Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia and Zambia, as well as specialists from Brazil, India and Gabon.

Overall, the REDD+ Strategy aims to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation through a sustainable forest management which promotes not only the enhancement of carbon stocks (thus tackling climate change worldwide), but also the delivery of co-benefits to the people and to the country (resulting in poverty reduction and improving sustainable development and biodiversity conservation).
