The need to define measures for the restoration of the Sancha lagoon, in the context of the recovery operations of natural coastal areas which are degraded and / or at risk, required the performance of a characterization study of the area’s ecological, geological and landscape quality, which was assigned to Nemus by the entity responsible for the restoration and enhancement of the Alentejo Southwest and Costa Vicentina.
The study focused on the ecology, geology and landscape components. The work conducted by Nemus involved the collection, analysis and interpretation of bibliographic and cartographic information, field surveys, in situ measurements, sampling of biological populations, water and sediments for laboratory analysis, the characterization and diagnosis of the analyzed components’ current situation and the recommendation of management measures.
