In the National Water Plan of 2010, Nemus was responsible for executing the strategic theme ‘Knowledge, Training, Information and Public Participation.’

The National Water Plan is the strategic water management instrument, establishing all the great national water policy options, its principles and guidelines.

The project conducted throughout the Portuguese territory focused on the processes of production and gathering of information, the transmission tools and methods and the adequacy of its contents with the objectives. In the diagnostic phase, Nemus promoted surveys and personal interviews with the leaders of the main authorities responsible for water management. This was followed by a workshop with these leaders to discuss the results and the proposed solutions to the three main problems identified: institutional qualification for water management, communication and public participation and information systems on water.
